Chris

Disability:

As a 21-year old US Marine, Chris Kaag started experiencing difficulties lifting  his legs and numbness. He was diagnosed with Adrenomyeloneuropathy. This eventually led to him requiring a wheelchair.

Ability:

Chris knew his life would change, and implemented the philosophy “Improvise, Adapt and Overcome” from boot camp.

With that philosophy, Chris has pushed on and shown everyone, that no matter what your circumstances, you can put a smile on your face and move on. Chris maintains a daily workout including hand-cycling.  Keeping active has helped him stay positive.  He says “when I work out, I’m competing against my physical fitness and myself, not my disability. Chris founded the IM-Able foundation and is helping people see their own abilities and the endless possibilities.

Our "Project VisAbility Inspirations" reflect the attitude, ability and strength it takes to succeed despite some of life's most intense challenges. By sharing these stories of achievement, we hope you will be as touched and motivated by them as we are… perhaps to join and support our program, and hopefully in some way that will change the perceptions about "disabilities", helping us to raise the VisAbility.
